  • Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at the Carrington training grounds on Saturday despite controversy surrounding him
  • Manchester United confirmed on Thursday the 37-year-old would be suspended from the clash against Chelsea on Saturday
  • His future is now in doubt, with reports suggesting United could offload him in January after the World Cup

Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at the Carrington training grounds on Friday, October 21 to train on his own, as he begins to serve his punishment at Manchester United.

By Friday, it was confirmed Ronaldo would not be part of the squad to face Chelsea in the weekend fixture, as he remains suspended for his actions days earlier.

The Real Madrid legend stormed down the tunnel before full time in the game against Tottenham, which Manchester United comfortably won 2-0 in his absence.

As reported on TalkSport, ten Hag has since confirmed the superstar refused to come on late in the game against Antonio Conte’s men.

Ronaldo has since gone onto social media to issue an apology for his actions, saying it was all down to things happening 'in the heat of the moment'.

"As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed," his statement read in part.

The Athletic reports that the striker arrived at the club’s training grounds on Friday to humbly serve his punishment, but was expected to train alone.

It remains unclear whether Ronaldo was fined or whether he will be reintegrated back into the squad after the Chelsea game.

This is not the first time Ronaldo is on the spot for leaving the game early in discontent.

In August, during a friendly against Rayo Vallecano, he also stormed down the tunnel, with ten Hag terming his actions at the time as 'unacceptable'.

Ronaldo’s sister reacts to Man United situation

Meanwhile, Sports Brief also reported of how Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister reacted to her brother’s latest woes.

Emma Aveiro wrote on her Instagram that her brother was being disrespected and added that 'God never sleeps'.

She has always been a fierce defender of Ronaldo on social media, and she also spoke days earlier when Ronaldo was substituted against Newcastle United.
