Football fans were left stunned on Wednesday night, October 19, after they spotted Patrice Evra eating Old Trafford grass moments before Man United's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Evra was on punditry duties for Amazon during the match, joining Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Roberto Martinez on set.

However, the former Man United defender gave his fellow pundits a good laugh after he took a chunk of grass out of the pitch and ate it.

Reacting to the bizarre incident, Evra said via The Sun:

"This is home. I call it home. It's a little bit windy but don't worry guys, I've asked someone to turn off the AC."
"And yeah of course, whenever I come here, I always do that. Do you know Gabby, I always taste the grass," he added.

Patrice Evra's Man United career

Evra enjoyed an illustrious career with the Red Devils, spanning eight years between 2006 and 2014.

The Frenchman won a total of 14 major titles with the English giants, with five of those being Premier League crowns.

After his Old Trafford exit, he went on to join Serie A giants Juventus, where he also won five trophies.

He later had stints with Marseille and West Ham United before retiring from professional football in 2019.

Evra gets warm reception in Ghana

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Patrice Evra was accorded a warm reception on his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Ghana.

The ex-France international made the trip after he had disclosed in a social media post that he was heading to the West African country, as part of his tour of the continent.

Evra, who is famous for making inspiring videos on social media with the theme ‘I Love This Game’, had expressed high levels of anticipation ahead of his visit to Ghana.
