There were early signs that the Spaniard was going to experience hostility prior to kick-off as some unscrupulous fans attempted to wind him up as he made his way into the stadium.

In an interesting video showcasing some unseen pre-match footage, Liverpool fans who were trying to get a glimpse of their superstars as they got out of the tunnel spotted Guardiola first.

The painful jibe was hurled right at Guardiola’s face, and a younger fan also went in with more banter, saying 'Second best Pep', presumably in reference to Liverpool's assistant Pep Ljinders.

Guardiola ended his four-year stint as Barcelona coach in 2012, where he won 14 honours, including two Champions League titles.
