According to Talksport, Ex-Gunners star Jermaine Pennant said that their challenge would fall apart soon.
“I think that Arsenal, after Christmas, will cookie crumble like they did the year before to drop out of the Champions League spots.”
Pennant played for the Gunners between 1999-2005. He nevertheless praised Arteta for rejuvenating his former side.
“What Arteta has done at Arsenal, where they were two, three seasons ago and what they are doing now, is absolutely amazing."
He questioned whether Arsenal could withstand the challenging Christmas period.
“We have seen a lot of teams come flying out the blocks and then as soon as the Christmas period comes and the games come thick and fast, they slip over easily.”
The Gunners play one team from the top six, Chelsea, in their next eight league fixtures, meaning they have an opportunity to go on a run.
