FootballBrighton players pay touching tribute to Enock Mwepu before Brentford game
- Brighton and Hove Albion players showed class by wearing shirts celebrating Enock Mwepu
- Mwepu was forced into an early retirement after he was diagnosed with a heart condition
- In the warm-up against Brentford, the players all wore shirts bearing the message “We are with you”
Brighton players on Friday, October 14 came out with the ultimate tribute towards one of their own Enock Mwepu, who recently announced his retirement from the game aged only 24.
The midfielder was forced into retirement after screenings found that he had a heart condition that put him at risk of suffering cardiac arrest if he continued playing.
Days after his announcement, Brighton visited Brentford for the first Premier League game of round 10 of fixtures.
Prior to kick off, Brighton players warmed up in t-shirts bearing the message 'CHAMBISHI TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE, YOUR DREAM CAME TRUE. WE ARE ALL WITH YOU.'
As reported by Daily Mail, Brighton players, like the rest of the world, were rocked by news Mwepu would not be part of their squad anymore because of his condition.
Mwepu’s teammate Adam Lallana, also spoke on Sky Sports before the game where he divulged on the general mood of the team after learning the news.

'Obviously tragic news. We found out three or four days ago. It puts massive perspective in life and what matters,' Lallana said at the G-Tech Community Stadium
How the game went
Despite Lallana saying the Mwepu news gave Brighton incentive to go for all three points, that was not the case once the game got going.
It was Brentford star Ivan Toney who further underlined his England credentials with two goals as the home side returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win.

FootballNotably, Brighton struggled for fluidity and cohesion, which was strange considering their recent performances on the road.
Toney opened the scoring with a brilliant back heel flip from Frank Onyeka's pass.
Brighton went in search of an equalizer but was not forthcoming and Brentford made it 2-0 with Toney firing from the penalty spot.
