Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp recently boldly called out ‘oil riches’ in football by declaring it was practically impossible to compete with Manchester City.
The Reds’ season is not going to get any easier despite a nightmare star, and they prepare to face the Champions Manchester City on Sunday, October 16.
Man City, a UAE-owned club is once again in pole position to win the title, with Arsenal being the only club providing a genuine challenge for the title 10 games in.
For Liverpool, they will have to find a way to stop Erling Haaland, a summer acquisition of Manchester City who has scored 15 Premier League goals already so far this season.

Asked how he planned to compete with City on Sunday, Klopp said:
“You will not like the answer, and you all have the answer already. Nobody can compete with City,” he stated as quoted on The Mirror.
"You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market, no matter what it costs, you just do it. I know City will not like it, nobody will like it. You've asked the question but you know the answer.”
Klopp went on to add that, Qatari-owned PSG and Newcastle also enjoyed immense wealth from the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia, which enabled them to do ‘whatever they want’.
Of course, there are financial fair play rules that limit the rich clubs, but Klopp believes it does very little to curb these clubs’ spending.
“What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them. It is not possible. Not possible. It is just clear and again you know the answer. There are three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially,” he went on.
