Xabi Alonso has just taken over the reins at Bayer Leverkusen, but his managerial tenure is already being watched by a Spanish side.
Real Madrid are said to closely monitoring Alonso’s time in charge of the Bundesliga side.
As reported by Madrid Universal, Los Blancos are considering Alonso as a candidate for the manager’s post in the future.
Madrid believes that Alonso would be a perfect fit for the managerial role because he played under great coaches like Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola. He is also a familiar face in Madrid and is loved by the team’s fans.

Alonso played 236 games for Madrid during five seasons at the club and scored six goals. He also notched up 31 assists during that time, Transfermarkt reported.
In 2018, Alonso managed Madrid’s u/14 team while he was completing his UEFA-accredited coaching course. He then went to coach Real Sociedad’s B team. Sociedad B earned a promotion to the Segunda Division in his second season in charge of the team.
With his tenure at Leverkusen, Alonso is entering his first stint as a manager in top-flight football, and Madrid are eager to see how he does before considering him as a future Los Blancos manager.
As reported earlier by Sports Brief, Xabi Alonso could be in line for the Bayer Leverkusen managerial job, after the Bundesliga giants reached out to the Spaniard about taking over the reins at the club.
