As reported by Madrid Universal, Los Blancos are considering Alonso as a candidate for the manager’s post in the future.

Madrid believes that Alonso would be a perfect fit for the managerial role because he played under great coaches like Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola. He is also a familiar face in Madrid and is loved by the team’s fans.

Alonso played 236 games for Madrid during five seasons at the club and scored six goals. He also notched up 31 assists during that time, Transfermarkt reported.

Coaching Madrid’s youth team

In 2018, Alonso managed Madrid’s u/14 team while he was completing his UEFA-accredited coaching course. He then went to coach Real Sociedad’s B team. Sociedad B earned a promotion to the Segunda Division in his second season in charge of the team.

With his tenure at Leverkusen, Alonso is entering his first stint as a manager in top-flight football, and Madrid are eager to see how he does before considering him as a future Los Blancos manager.

Leverkusen targets Alonso as manager

As reported earlier by Sports Brief, Xabi Alonso could be in line for the Bayer Leverkusen managerial job, after the Bundesliga giants reached out to the Spaniard about taking over the reins at the club.

Leverkusen are in dire need of turning around their season following a disastrous start to the 2022/23 campaign and are set to part ways with current head coach Gerardo Seoane.

Leverkusen are now interested in signing Alonso after being rebuffed by former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel whom they had earlier approached.
