Portuguese tactician Nuno Espirito Santo is in pole position to be appointed as Wolves boss for the second time, 17 months after leaving the job.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reported to be in a frantic search for their next manager after the dismissal of Bruno Lage earlier in the month.
The club preferred to recruit former Sevilla boss Julen Loptegui, but the Spaniard reportedly turned down the job.
According to BBC, Nuno is now among a list of preferred candidates to take over at the Molineaux Stadium.

Nuno, according to The Athletic, still has his heart at Wolves and is ready for an emotional reunion with the club. Wolves fans are particularly fond of the manager, as he famously guided them to promotion in his first season in charge.
His first tenure also involved an impressive run in the Europa League, where the team reached the quarter-finals in their first appearance at the competition in 39 years.
After leaving the Wolves job, Nuno was named Tottenham Hotspur manager, but his stint only lasted four months and 17 games.
He did not stay unemployed for long as in July, Saudi Arabian Al-Ittihad Club gave him a two-year contract to become their head coach.
Currently, Wolves sit in the relegation zone after a horrible season so far, with just one win in their opening nine Premier League games this season.
Their next game is against Nottingham Forest at Molineaux on Saturday, October 15, and interim manager Steve Davis is expected to be in charge of that game.

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported how Wolverhampton Wanderers showed Bruno Lage the door in October, following the club falling into the Premier League relegation zone.
At the time, Wolves had only one once in eight league matches in the season, with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham leaving the club a few places from the bottom of the table.
In total, Wolves had lost nine of the last 15 Premier League games under Lage.
