English Premier League club Everton are in contract extension talks with Nigerian international midfielder Alex Iwobi.
The 26-year-old has continued to flourish under manager Frank Lampard, and the Toffees are set to extend his contract despite the existing one running until the summer of 2024.
Iwobi has grown to become one of the best midfielders in the English top flight, and Everton are already making efforts to tie him down.
Lampard disclosed that negotiations are underway regarding an extension of the player’s deal, as he was also crucial to their survival last season.

The Super Eagles star has been impressive for the Merseysiders despite being deployed in the midfield. He has a hand in four of their eight goals so far this season.
Soccernet reports that Lampard told Richard Buxton, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano:
“Yes, I know that Thelwell’s speaking with Alex’s people on that front. We will see how that one develops.”
Okocha continues to support Iwobi
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha was spotted in the stands as Manchester United defeated Everton at Goodison Park.
The former Bolton Wanderers skipper, an uncle to Alex Iwobi, watched with delight as his nephew ripped the back of the United net in the opening minutes of the encounter.
The Nigerian international set the game alight for Everton in the 5th minute from outside the area, but United came back to win the tie 2-1 courtesy of goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian international Emmanuel Dennis was on the score sheet in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, in the English Premier League on Monday night.
The newly-promoted Premier League side agreed to a £20 million summer deal to sign Super Eagles forward Dennis from Watford this summer.
It was his first goal since joining the club, having shrugged off pressure from the first few matches he featured in.
