  • The Reds thumped Rangers 7-1 in their Champions League but remain 10th in the Premier League with just two wins from eight games

Liverpool have been advised to sign new players and freshen up the team to prevent the current predicament from spiralling out of control.

Liverpool thumped Rangers 7-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night but still languishes 10th in the Premier League, with a massive game against Manchester City coming up on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp's side have begun the season horribly. Fans expected another title challenge this season, but it is all in tatters as they are already 14 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Klopp's arrival at Liverpool in 2015 completely changed the club's fortunes, helping them lift their first league title in 30 years in 2020. However, according to Sky Sports, pundits say age and mental fatigue may be catching up with them.

Ex-Man United defender Rio Ferdinand urged the Reds to sign new players but he also feels they must take a cautious approach, according to The Daily Mail.

“There are a few players in there who are ageing and that’s just part of life. But you’ve got to get the right players. I do think they need to. Mane’s been a big loss. They recruited Nunez to try to fill that void; at the moment, it’s not going as well as they would have wanted to. But I think in time, it may catch up.”

Liverpool have won twice in the Premier League this season, a record which may remain unchanged on Sunday when they play defending champions Man City.

Liverpool great blasts Liverpool, Klopp

Sports Brief earlier reported on ex-Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann saying the time for Klopp to leave the club is coming.

Hamann said the team looks tired now and he doesn't know where the spark will come, following after a terrible start to the season.

Liverpool are a shadow of its former self, and many fans believe the team has reached its shelf life.
