John Ogu: Super Eagles Star Gets Special Gift From Opposing Team After Racial Calls

Representatives of Israeli club Bnei Yehuda have been spotted presenting a gift to Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu after being a victim of racial calls while playing for Maccabi Jaffa.

The incident occurred on Friday, 7 October, in a topflight encounter in which Ogu and his teammates at Maccabi Jaffa recorded a 1-0 win over the hosts.

Yehuda players started the encounter with boosted morale playing in front of their fans, but despite their efforts to score in the first half of the game, they were unable to.

In the second half, Maccabi Jaffa changed their style of play to a more attacking one, and they waited for only four minutes to score through Gal Levi.

When was John Ogu abused racially?

Ogu was not even on the pitch when he was abused by fans of Yehuda, the Nigerian was on the bench and sat close to where the home supporters were.

Despite all the racial calls against the Super Eagles star, the 34-year-old did not react as his team went on to record a 1-0 win.

According to the video spotted on Instagram, those in charge of Yehuda decided to send representatives to Ogu, where they tendered an apology with the gifts.
