City meanwhile, are leading Group G with 10 points, three points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who are their closest challengers.

Italian league leaders Napoli, Germany's Bayern Munich and Belgian outfit Club Brugge complete a set of five teams through to the next round.

Napoli booked their place having already won all four matches in Group A, which also includes Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers.

Bayern have also maintained a 100% record thus far in Group C, while Club Brugge will be playing in the knockout round for the first time in their history after a stunning run of results in Group B.

When is the Champions League last 16 draw?

The Champions League Round of 16 draw is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2022, at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

The draw will take place exactly five days after the conclusion of the group stage fixtures on Wednesday, November 2.

Teams from the same division cannot be paired together at this stage, but will surely face off once the tournament gets to the quarter-final round.

While Real Madrid will be looking to win the tournament for a record 15th time, other teams including Man City and Paris Saint-Germain, are keen to conquer Europe for the first time.

Lewandowski saves Barcelona from Champions League elimination

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Robert Lewandowski scored two late goals to save Barcelona from elimination from the Champions League, in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Inter Milan on Wednesday at Camp Nou.

The Polish forward pulled Xavi Hernandez's side level at 2-2 in the 82nd minute and then again at 3-3 in stoppage time, after Robin Gosens put the Italians ahead with one minute remaining.

Barcelona's Champions League fate is no longer in their own hands though, and they still face a second consecutive group stage elimination if Inter Milan wins at home against already-eliminated Viktoria Plzen on October 26.
