President Buhari on Tuesday evening, 11 October, conferred the posthumous national award on Super Eagles all-time leading scorer Rashidi Yekini 10 years after his death.
Governor Abdulrahman of Kwara state disclosed this on his Twitter page and also thanked President Buhari for remembering the late soccer star.
Many football fans in Nigeria and abroad are still finding it hard to come to terms rationale behind the death of Yekini, considering how he was taken away by members of his family before the announcement of his death.
After retiring from football, the former Shooting Stars' striker returned to his base in Ibadan where he was living in his mansion at Ring road.

There were reports that Yekini used to share money on the streets in Ibadan in which his family members thought the gesture was not normal.
They then decided to forcefully take him to an unknown traditional man, where he was until his death.
Till today, none of Yekini's family members have revealed the location of where the Nigerian goal king was taken to, which led to his death.
How many goals did Yekini score for Super Eagle?
Between 1984-1998, Yekini played 62 games for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, scoring 37 goals.
And since his death, no player has been able to break the record of Yekini in the national team.
