Martinelli's career with Arsenal has been hampered by injuries, but he is somehow experiencing his breakout season, becoming a key player for Mikel Arteta's side.
According to an exclusive by the Daily Mail, the 21-year-old's representatives have begun negotiations for a new deal, but an agreement is not close.

As a teenager, the young Brazilian turned down Manchester United and has set his sights on a place in Brazil's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, there is stiff competition from the likes of Neymar Junior, Antony, Vinicius Junior and Raphinha.
Martinelli's salary demands
Martinelli currently earns £70,000 but wants to be paid the same as Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey, who earn around £200,000 per week. The Brazilian's current contract expires in 2024.
After Arsenal's win over Liverpool this past Sunday, Martinelli, who was on target, said everything is on course.
"Of course, I want to stay. We are talking. Let’s see what is going to happen. But I want to stay, of course. I think it’s my best season here at Arsenal. I’m so happy for this moment."
