Cristiano Ronaldo's fate on the improper conduct charge facing him is now set to be determined by the Football Association.
Ronaldo had been charged with violent conduct at the end of a Premier League game against Everton at Goodison Park last season.
The striker was filmed knocking an Everton's fan mobile phone at the end of the game. Ronaldo was walking back to the dressing room frustrated after his side had gone 1-0 down to the Toffees.

Ronaldo apologised to the fan, but under FA rules, the case is supposed to go to a hearing with witnesses welcomed to give their evidence.
United to support Ronaldo during the hearing
Manchester United have previously confirmed that they intend to support Ronaldo with the charge. That loss against Everton had diminished United's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League and Ronaldo was understandably upset.
His actions were, however, in complete contravention of FA Rule E3, where he is adjudged to have reacted improperly or violently.
