Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have announced that their Zambian midfielder Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire from football at the age of 24, due to serious health issues.
This latest development will be a devastating one for the family members, friends, associates and most importantly, the teammates of Mwepu.
Before his heartbreaking retirement from football, Mwepu was one of the best African midfielders in the Premier League and had a promising career ahead of him.
What actually went wrong with Mwepu?
According to the reports on GOAL and Sky Sports, Tony Bloom - the chairman of Brighton - explained that Mwepu has hereditary cardiac issue and the only remedy is for him to stop playing football.

Bloom's statement about Mwepu was reported as follows:
“We are all absolutely devastated for Enock. He and his family have had a traumatic few weeks and while we are just thankful he has come through that period, he has seen such a promising career cut short at such a young age.''
When did Enock Mwepu join Brighton?
Mwepu moved to the Premier League side in July 2021, featuring in 24 games and netting two goals before his untimely retirement.
