Wayne Rooney sends Ronaldo message amid striker's struggles

Rooney, who played alongside Ronaldo during their time together at the Theatre of Dreams, has now taken the time to send the Portugal international a fiery warning.

The former England star suggested time is ripe for the five-time Ballon d'Or to hang his boots because "time catches up with us all."

"Cristiano... him and (Lionel) Messi are two of the greatest players to ever play the game, but ultimately time catches up with us all," Rooney said via the Daily Star.
"He's obviously not the player he was when he was 22 or 23, for instance. It's a tough one for him," he added.
