FootballStraight Shooting Bafana Bafana Coach Hugo Broos is Too Honest Says Former Player
- South Africa's men's national football team coach Hugo Broos has been ruffling feathers ever since he landed in the country
- The 70-year-old Belgian has established himself as a blunt individual who has not taken any prisoners in his approach
- This has led to former Bafana Bafana player Lance Davids asking that he show more restraint when getting his points across
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has to start toning down on the bluntness.
This is the view of former national team player Lance Davids in response to the uncompromising 70-year-old Belgian's approach.
According to SABC Sport, Davids said:
“Too honest, should I say. He needs to just tone it down because, at the end of the day, he’s going to be judged on results and then he won’t be able to blame anyone else. Like every South African [believes], we should be at the top and at least be competing. The coach has won the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon, and if you ask me, we have the players – I’m not saying that he must go win the next AFCON, no."

SAFA boss Danny Jordaan unhappy with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos
South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan is once again displeased with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.
The brusque Belgian said that the organisation 'lacked professionalism' that made his job as Bafana Bafana coach difficult.
In response, Jordaan said:
"I have not seen those comments. I haven't seen him to understand what's that he had to say. Our most successful team are our juniors - they qualified for the world cups and Olympic Games, so maybe he is talking about something else."
In June, the 70-year-old Belgian ripped local football for its low quality, which prompted Jordaan to say then:
“I will sit down and talk to him [Hugo Broos] about it [media comments]. Because it’s important that these matters are dealt with organisationally and that is what we will do. I cannot comment on details because I was here and of course, that press conference was in Johannesburg."
