Carragher Tweeted on Monday morning in support of Erik Ten Hag benching Ronaldo and said those attacking the manager for leaving him out are laughable.
Ferdinand brought up the moment Ronaldo snubbed Carragher on live television, telling him he was still upset the Portugues didn't shake his hand at Old Trafford during a Sky Sports broadcast.
Carragher supports Ronaldo benching
Carragher reiterated that starting Marcus Rashford for the Manchester City game was the only way to go about it. However, according to the Daily Mail, his claim rubbed some people wrong.
Ferdinand responded by saying Ronaldo's goalscoring ability means he has to start.
"You can't have your top goalscorer, who gets 20 or 25 goals a season, on the bench. I'm sorry. People keep talking about it. Why are we so concerned with what people don't do all the time? What's he good at?"
Carragher's cheeky comments drew a laugh from Ferdinand, who rubbished his claim that he and Patrice Evra have a WhatsApp group together with Ronaldo.

Ronaldo cut a frustrated figure on the bench as United were being mauled by Erling Haaland and City. The body language suggested that he was unhappy about not playing for the team.
Hqaaland equals Ronaldo's record
Sports Brief earlier reported on Erling Haaland equaling Ronaldo's Premier League record in just eight matches.
Haaland's hattrick in Sunday's derby was his third in the league this season. It only took him eight matches to reach that milestone, while Ronaldo achieved the same in 232 matches.
The Norwegian striker is now the first player to score three successive hattricks at home.
