Patrice Evra has retired from football to become a coach after spending 20 years active years in the game that has brought him fame and fortune.

The former France international joined Premier League giants, Manchester United in January 2006 from Monaco for £5.5million, and went on to make 273 appearances, scoring three goals.

Evra left Old for Juventus in 2014 where he won three Serie A trophies, and returned back home to play for Marseille.

But the left-full back made the headlines for the wrong reasons when he surprisingly kicked a fan in the head towards the end of his career.

He was involved in a row during warm-up before Marseille's Europa League clash with Vitoria Plzen when the fight started.

The 38-year-old played 81 times for France, and last kicked the ball for West Ham before he was released in the 2018 season.

One of his most bizarre acts was when he was videoed himself licking and slapping a raw chicken in a apparent 'tribute' to Thanksgiving.

Evra the Champions League, five Premier League trophies and three League Cups with United as well as three Italian Serie A titles, one Super Cup among others.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has called it quits with football following a nagging knee injury.

The former England international announced his decision after losing a lengthy battle with a recurring knee problem at the age of 31.
