The rivalry between the two Manchester sides appears to have taken precedence. United remain the most successful side between the two, but in recent years, City have picked up the pace.
Guardiola's appointment and the steady flow of finances from the owners have made City a dominant force in the Premier League. City have won four Premier League titles in the last six years.
United, meanwhile, last won the title under Alex Ferguson nine years ago. But for all their investment, City are yet to win the Champions League title. They will be hoping their new striker Erling Haaland could lead them to glory this year.
The two sides meet at the Etihad Stadium on October 2nd for the first derby of the season. It will also be Erik ten Hag's first derby since his appointment as United boss.
