  • Jack Grealish has fired back at Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness, who blasted his Manchester City performances
  • Souness said big money star is not a great player as well as bashing his style of play
  • Grealish said that although he respects him, he doesn't understand Souness's obsession with him

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has responded to criticism by popular Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness who castigated him, saying he still isn't a great player.

Souness is still not impressed by England forward who made a big money move to City last season, and although he's settled in well in Manchester, good performances have been few and far between.

Grealish responds to Souness' criticism

According to the Daily Mail, Grealish was baffled as to why Souness was always on his case. The popular pundit who became popular for his harsh criticism of Paul Pogba said that Grealish "takes too much time on the ball.

However, Grealish was having none of that.

I don't know what his problem is with me. He always says stuff about me.

The 27-year-old is the most expensive English player after completing the switch from Aston Villa last year for 100 million. Grealish said that it is sometimes difficult to ignore what Souness says because he is everywhere.

I try not to read a lot of it. It's always everywhere around the training ground. He was obviously a great player and won a lot but I don't know what it is with what he says about me or what problem he's got.

Moreover, the England forward says he's not bothered about those comments as he trusts his manager and his own talent.

I know my own ability. I know before he used to say a lot of stuff about me not moving the ball quicker, but when I'm playing for a manager like Pep Guardiola and he's telling me to keep the ball as much as I can.

England plays Italy and Germany in the Nations League, and Grealish will be in line to start the game. He also expects to be on the plane to Qatar for the World Cup.

Souness brutally criticises Grealish

Sports Brief earlier reported on Souness's wild castigation of the City star, who he believes has a way to go before he reaches superstar level.

Grealish has not lit up Etihad with just seven goals to his name since the start of last season. He scored his first goal this season when City beat Wolves 3-0.
