Luis Enrique has stated that Nico Williams' invite to the Spanish national team does not end his Ghana quest.
The 20-year-old winger earned his first Spain call up last week following a good start to the La Liga season.
Ahead of Spain's Nations League games against Switzerland and Portugal, the former Barcelona manager revealed why he invited the youngster who is also eligible to play for Ghana.
“I’m not doing this to stop him going with Ghana; he’s young and a very interesting player,” said Enrique as quoted by the Guardian.

“He’s playing more often with Athletic [Bilbao] now. He’s progressing wonderfully. I like him enormously. We’ve had him in the junior squad and have been following him for a long time,” he added.
“I reckon the family will be delighted: imagine the party if they both go to the World Cup. And they reach the final, well, that would be the absolute business.”
Nico Williams is younger brother of Athletic Club star Inakli Williams, who opted to represent Ghana ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Although, he has been invited for the games later this week, Williams can still switch nationality if he makes less than three appearances for the European champions.
Nico Williams has scored two goals in six La Liga games this season.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that four times African champions, Ghana, are set to lose talented Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams to the Spanish national football team.
The 20-year-old born to Ghanaian parents in Spain has earned his first call-up from the European nation.
And in a video posted on social media, Spain manager Luis Enrique, the winger has been included for the UEFA Nations League games against Switzerland and Portugal later this month.
