  • Youri Tielemans insists he has no regrets staying at Leicester City despite the club struggling in the league
  • Arsenal and Manchester United were interested in the Belgian but no deal came to fruition
  • Leicester City are currently the only side in the league without a win as at September 20

Youri Tielemans has reiterated he does not regret staying at Leicester City, although admitted that life was tough at the football club at the moment.

The Foxes are winless in their opening seven matches of the campaign and have only picked up one point.

Pressure continues to increase on Brendan Rodgers after 5-2 and 6-2 defeats to Brighton and Tottenham respectively, and Tielemans, who is currently with the Belgian national team, admitted it was a nice break away from his club.

"I'm happy to get a bit of fresh air here [with Belgium] because it's tough at Leicester right now," the midfielder said as quoted by Sky Sports.
It's clear that things are not going well at the club. We are doing everything we can as a team.
"At Leicester, the consecutive defeats have affected us as a group. We need to benefit from this break to recharge our batteries. It's hard to get it off my mind as it keeps running through my head. Only my kids sometimes prevent me from thinking about it."

His priority now shifts to trying to secure a slot in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which takes place in less than 8 weeks’ time.

The 25-year-old’s contract at the King Power stadium is set to expire at the end of this season but he somehow decided it would be best to stay with the club, at least for the first half of the campaign.

Leicester will hope to pick up their first points of the campaign on Monday, October 3 when they take on Nottingham Forrest at home.

Trent Alexander Arnold, Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Jordan Henderson are among the big names who face stiff competition to make the final squad.
