  • Barcelona reported a profit of £86 million for the most recent fiscal year and it is the club’s first profits gained since the pandemic for the Catalan club
  • Blaugrana are also anticipating a profit margin of £240 million next year as the club seeks to overcome its financial challenges
  • Due to La Liga financial rules, Barcelona was prohibited to sign new players this summer after suffering a £422 million deficit the previous season

Barcelona are returning to its glory days as the club has announced a profit for the first time since the pandemic started in 2020.

This marks a remarkable turnaround from 2020-21, when Barca posted losses of over €422m and could not afford to register Lionel Messi's new contract within their La Liga imposed spending limit.

Barcelona revealed they closed the 2021-22 financial year with a turnover of £890m after selling shares of their future television rights and their media production unit Barca Studios.

The La Liga giants were able to sign top players in the summer including Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde and have now registered all their summer recruits.

Barcelona put indemnity clauses into Nico and Abde’s loan contracts

Meanwhile, Barcelona has added special clauses into the contracts of their loan players which means they are unlikely to face their parent club this season, SB Nation reports.

The Catalan giants inserted fear clauses to contracts of players such as Nico Gonzalez and Ez Abde who are currently on loan to fellow La Liga side Valencia.

The decision implies that Valencia would have to pay Barcelona more money if they choose to play Nico against Barcelona.

Barcelona set to repair relationship with Lionel Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona president Joan Laporta has vowed to do all he can to re-sign Lionel Messi next summer when the PSG star's contract expires.

Messi joined Barcelona's La Masia as a 13-year-old kid after his family agreed to let him sign for the Camp Nou club.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner left the Catalan giants for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer last year, calling an emotional end to his 21-year Barcelona career.
