Mohammed Kudus has revealed that he wanted to join Everton in the summer transfer window after he was offered a good deal by the English club.
However, the move fell through in the eleventh hour after Ajax decided against his departure on transfer deadline day.
Speaking to NOS, the 22-year-old disclosed he was not happy with the limited game time at the beginning of the season and wanted to try something new.
"Everton offered me a great opportunity and I wanted to try it," he said.

"No footballer wants to sit on the bench and neither do I. Although I understood that not everyone can play all the time, Everton seemed like a good option at the time."
Ajax's decision to keep Mohammed Kudus has instantly yielded results, with the Ghana international on a scoring spree, having netted six goals in his last five games.
Mohammed Kudus has been in outstanding form for the Eredivisie champions, and is now a starter at the Johan Cryuff Arena.
The former FC Nordsjaelland midfielder has joined his Ghana teammates for the international friendly against Brazil on Friday in France.
He will also play a part of the friendly against Nicaragua in Spain on September 27, 2022.
Mohammed Kudus is one of the players to watch out for in the Ghana team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that In-form Mohammed Kudus continued his scoring run with another strike for Ajax in their game against AZ Alkmaar.
The Ghana international opened the scoring for the Dutch champions but it was not enough as they suffered defeat on Sunday afternoon.
In a video posted on social media, the 22-year-old rolled in an assist from Kenneth Taylor to give Ajax the lead.
