Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has criticized Barcelona and Real Madrid over their continuous push for the Super League.

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez alongside his Barcelona counterpart, Juan Laporta is still pushing for the kick-off of the Super League which was squashed by UEFA.

According to SB Nation, Herbert Hainer has lashed out at the Spanish clubs for not putting their supporters into consideration before taking such a decision.

“In everything you do, you have to put the interests of the fans at the centre of it, and the reaction of the fans said it all. I have to say that I like the Champions League of UEFA because it is a fantastic competition in which the best clubs compete.”

The Super League was a proposed seasonal club football competition that initially would have been contested by 20 European football clubs, twelve of them being the competition's founding members including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Meanwhile, former Bayern Munich CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the English Premier League clubs are to blame for the idea of the European Super League.

Rummenigge believes the entire concept was a result of the increasing disparity in finances between the Premier League and the rest of football, Football Espana reports.
