Dortmund's Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl has since provided an update on Reus' condition.
As reported by Get German Football News, Kehl said it was a shock to all of them when they saw what had happened, but it wasn't as bad as first feared.
“The medical tests we did on Saturday did not show a fracture. Reus suffered an ankle ligament injury. He will be out for three to four weeks and then hopefully be available again.”
Reus is expected to miss Dortmund's next games against FC Köln and Sevilla. He will also miss Germany's UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and England.
On a more positive note, the World Cup is only in two months' time, giving Reus a chance to recover and earn a place at Qatar 2022.
