Cristiano Ronaldo has appreciated the efforts of his teammates following Man United's 2-0 win against FC Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday evening.

First-half strikes from Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo ensured the Red Devils secured their first win in the Europa League, getting their campaign back on track after suffering a shock home defeat to Sociedad on match day one.

Ronaldo, who had failed to find the back of the net in as many games played, finally got off the mark when he notched a first-half penalty to double United's lead.

Cristiano's strike, his first goal of the season also doubled as his maiden goal in the Europa League - a competition the United superstar last played in 2002.

After helping his side to their first win in Europe's secondary club competition, an elated Ronaldo took to social media to express his appreciation for the effort of his teammates.

Unfortunately, he will have to wait till early October to continue his goal-scoring form for United following the postponement of their Premier League game against Leeds United this Sunday.

He would hope to continue scoring after rediscovering his mojo during the international break.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his first-ever goal in the UEFA Europa League, which doubles as his first goal of the season across all competitions.

Ronaldo notched his first goal in Europe's secondary club competition with a lovely strike against Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol.

The 37-year-old forward has struggled to find the back of the net since the start of the season largely due to an uneventful pre-season which translated into the season.
