Mason Greenwood Breaks Wayne Rooney’s Long-Standing Record After Scoring Against Aston Villa

Mason Greenwood has broken Wayne Rooney's Man United goalscoring record after finding the back of the net vs Aston Villa.
Greenwood was among United's three goalscorers as the Red Devils sprung a fightback to stun the Villans at Villa Park o. Sunday, May 9.
Bertrand Traore had earlier scored the hosts' opener in the first half before Bruno Fernandes drew one back for United minutes into the second half.

Greenwood went on to put his side ahead shortly after, with Edinson Cavani crowning the visitors' at the death.
The youngster's clinical strike took his tally to 11 goals across competitions this season.
He has now scored 16 goals in total since he made his league debut for United in 2018, becoming the club's all-time highest teenage goalscorer.
Rooney, who is widely regarded as a Red icon has been holding that record, having scored 15 during his teenage years at Old Trafford.
Reacting to his feat, Greenwood said he will be doing everything within his reach to strengthen his position in record books. Metro UK quoted him saying.
"It was a good goal. I just knew that he [Tyrone Mings] was coming tight to you in the box, so if you get a little movement then you can get half a yard. I finished it well, I’m happy with my goal today.
"Hopefully, there are many more to come. I’ll try and keep scoring goals so no one else can come and break the record in the future! I’m happy scoring goals."
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have now managed to salvage a result after coming from behind for the 10th time this season.
Their win over Aston Villa saw them strengthen their place in second on the log, thereby delaying Man City's title party.

The match was the first of three league fixtures United have to play in a space of five days following the postponement of their Liverpool clash.
