• Paris Saint-Germain has the highest number of players on the list, with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe leading from the front with a rating of 91
• Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Kevin De Bruyne have also been listed as the best-rated players in the game

Popular gaming company EA Sports has officially released the first batch of player ratings in the new FIFA 23 game.

The new edition is set to be launched officially at the end of the month with Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea Women's star Samatha Kerr as the cover art.

Lionel Messi has remained the top-rated player with an overall rating of 91. He has, however, been joined by his PSG teammate Mbappe, Ballon d'Or favourite Karim Benzema and Barcelona's hitman, formerly with Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski. Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is also rated at 91.

Messi did not enjoy a wonderful debut season in Paris but has still been ranked ahead of nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo, who has now dropped to 90.

Courtois and Neuer are the world's best goalkeepers

Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer are the joint-highest-rated goalkeepers with a rating of 90. The former is back from a wonderful season with Real Madrid after helping them to the Champions League and La Liga titles.

Virgil van Dijk, meanwhile, leads the line as far as defenders are concerned with a 90 rating. His Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah has a similar rating.

Unfamiliar territory for Neymar

Dropping out of the 90 bracket for the first time in over five seasons is Neymar. The Brazilian is at 89, together with new Bayern Munich winger Sadio Mane, Tottenham Hotspur duo of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Bayern Munich's utility player Joshua Kimmich and Manchester United's new signing Casemiro.

Goalkeeping trio Alison, Ederson and Jan Oblak have also been rated at 89 alongside Chelsea's midfield dynamo N'Golo Kante.

At 88, Manchester City's one sensation Erling Haaland leads alongside Real Madrid's midfielder Toni Kroos and PSG's captain Marquinhos.

More ratings will be announced soon ahead of the September 30th unveiling.

Sports Brief had earlier reported that football video game lovers are preparing themselves for the latest edition of the popular game FIFA which is set to debut next month.

Snippets of the upcoming edition have already been revealed to the public as the creators, EA Sports, continue to improve the game.

Paris Saint Germain's superstar Kylian Mbappe will be the cover for the game alongside Chelsea Women hero Samatha Kerr. The PSG star is also expected to be the fastest player in the new edition.
