  • Kylian Mbappe has put the football on notice by indicating that he is now ready to win his first Ballon d'Or
  • Mbappe has avered that Lionel Messi's and Cristiano Ronaldo's hold on the top is over and there is a need for someone else to take over
  • Talk has been rife of Mbappe and Manchester City's dangerman Erling Haaland forming the basis of the next football rivalry

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has appeared to declare himself as the heir apparent of the Lionel Messi's and Cristiano Ronaldo's throne.

Mbappe has been widely touted as the next superstar to take over the two arch-nemesis who have dominated football headlines for over 10 years plus.

The pair has 12 Ballon d'Ors between them, among many other individual and collective awards. Mbappe, meanwhile, has lit up the football world since making his debut at the age of 17.

The French star, who declined a move to Champions League record winners Real Madrid earlier in the summer, is now setting his eyes on winning his first Ballon d'Or. Speaking to New York Times, the 23-year-old sent out a strong message to Messi and Ronaldo.

I think I’m about to win the Ballon d’Or.
I always say I dream about everything. I have no limits. So, of course, as you say, it’s a new generation. And Ronaldo, Messi — you’re gonna stop. We have to find someone else, someone new.

Mbappe's sentiments are backed by the reversal of fortunes of Messi and Ronaldo. Messi, Mbappe's teammate at PSG, appears to have a limited role compared to what he enjoyed at Barcelona.

Ronaldo has started just one game under Erik ten Hag and is yet to score in any competition this season. Furthermore, he won't be participating in the Champions League, which greatly hampers his efforts of winning another Ballon d'Or.

Mbappe has refused to rule out a future move to Real Madrid

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé has refused to rule out the possibility of joining Real Madrid despite snubbing the Spanish giants to extend his stay with the Parisians earlier in the summer.

Mbappé was heavily linked with moving to Real Madrid in the summer but opted to sign a lucrative three-year contract with PSG.

The Frenchman's decision to stay with the French champions ruffled a lot of feathers in Madrid, with the reigning European champions feeling misled by the player over his intentions of joining the club and that they wasted a significant amount of time in pursuing his signature.
