  • Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé became the youngest player in the history of the UEFA Champions League to score 35 goals
  • The Frenchman reached the dizzying milestone which was previously held by teammate and former Barcelona talisman Leo Messi
  • Mbappé has been involved in 55 goals in 54 Champions League games - scoring 35 goals and contributing with 20 assists

Kylian Mbappe wrote his name in the sands of time yet again when he became the youngest-ever player to reach 35 UEFA Champions League goals.

Mbappe has been in blistering form, scoring an eyewatering seven goals in five Ligue 1 matches.

And the Frenchman continued on his red-hot tangent in Europe's premier inter-club competition when Paris Saint-Germain hosted Juventus on the opening night of this year's tournament.

PSG started the game like a house on fire and it came as no surprise when the 23-year-old Frenchman linked up seamlessly with Neymar before arrowing a powerful drive straight into the net to break the game's deadlock.

He will grab his personal brace and PSG's second of the night when the marauding Moroccan wingback Achraf Hakimi set him up before driving a first-time shot inside the left post after 22 minutes.

Mbappe's brace ensured he etched his name into Champions League football folklore by becoming the youngest player to score 35 goals in the competition at age 23 and 260 days.

His feat eclipses that of teammate Leo Messi, who reached this milestone at age 23 and 308 days.

PSG begin the chase for elusive Champions League with a titanic clash against Juventus

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Red-hot French champions Paris Saint-Germain will host Juventus in Tuesday's Champions League top liner at the Parc des Princes as Europe's premier interclub competition returns.

PSG have enjoyed an inch-perfect start to the French Ligue 1 - winning five and drawing once in their opening six games - scoring a staggering 24 goals to underline their flying start to the campaign.

Despite their dominance in the French elite division, the UEFA Champions League have proved elusive for the Parisians, with their closest being a runners-up finish in 2020, losing narrowly to Bayern Munich.
