Jules Kounde is not happy with his current playing position at Barcelona after being deployed as a right-back in his first two appearances for the Blaugrana this season.

The French defender voiced his frustration ahead of Barcelona’s opening UEFA Champions League encounter against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday, September 7.

Kounde revealed he will always give his best whenever he is called upon by Xavi, but revealed to the Barcelona manager his preferred playing position, Football Espana reports.

“I feel good, there are definitely things I have to improve. The position does not make me uncomfortable, but everyone knows my position is at centre-back and I prefer centre-back. But if the manager needs me there then I don’t have a problem.”

Meanwhile, Jules Kounde has revealed that Xavi was influential in his decision to join Barcelona rather than a switch to the English Premier League to sign with Chelsea, Daily Mail reports.

The French defender appeared on the brink of signing for Chelsea before Barcelona, who held a longstanding interest in the former Sevilla defender overtook the Blues to the deal.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Spanish giants FC Barcelona has reportedly completed the registration of new signing Jules Kounde.

The Catalan giants were able to register six of their seven unregistered players in time before their 2022/23 La Liga opener against Rayo Vallecano.

Kounde was the only unlucky star to miss out but the 23-year-old is available for selection for the clash against Real Valladolid on Sunday.
