The rate of footballers being robbed in Spain is reaching an alarming rate as former Barcelona striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the latest victim of an attack.

The 33-year-old was attacked at home and was left with a broken jaw and some valuables carted away before sealing a transfer deadline day move to English Premier League side, Chelsea.

Aubameyang now joins the list of top footballers in Spain that has experienced their homes broken into by robbers, including the likes of Karim Benzema, Gerard Pique, Ronaldo Nazario, and Jordi Alba.

5 La Liga stars who have been victims of robbery in Spain

Karim Benzema

Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema has had his home broken by the dreaded robbers, although the striker was not present at the time of the robbery.

The Frenchman was playing a match against Elche when a group of hooded men entered his home in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Marca reports

The thieves took advantage of the fact that there was no one in the house to enter and steal all kinds of objects.

As the police explained, the assailants jumped the fence that surrounds the house and broke a blind and a window to gain access to the interior of the house.

Gerard Pique

Barcelona defender, Gerard Piqué and his then partner Shakira also had their home targeted by thieves in June 2018.

The Thieves took advantage of the fact the couple were outside Barcelona and entered the house where the Colombian singer's parents were.

Some of the objects that the assailants took were the soccer player's watches and the singer's jewellery.

A year later, Yuri, a member of the Georgian mafia, came out to declare himself as the perpetrator of the robbery, stating how they act: "We don't want to hurt. If there are people we leave immediately"

Also, in 2018, the house of the FC Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba in La Bonanova was the target of an assault.

While Alba’s family was on the first floor, a group of thieves gained access to the second floor through the garden.

In this case, there is a 24-hour security guard who claimed not to see anything strange at the time of the robbery and the thieves were unable to take valuables as they could be discovered at any time.

Ronaldo Nazario

Even being retired, Ronaldo Nazario was the victim of a robbery in his villa in Ibiza.

The gang that carried out the robbery in the home of the former Real Madrid player were from Albania, and had data on other homes of important people such as politicians and other athletes.

In Ronaldo's case, the thieves made off with three million euros worth of watches and jewellery.

The culprits were discovered by the wife of PSG footballer Marco Verrati, who was there with her husband celebrating a barbecue.

Some of the valuable objects that were stolen were a Rolex valued at 62,000 euros, a jewel bought in Paris and valued at another 17,600 euros. They also took a gold watch with diamonds valued at about 400,000 euros.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang suffered a broken jaw when he was attacked during a robbery at his home when four people wearing masks threatened the 33-year-old Barcelona player and his wife with guns and iron bars.

The robbers invaded Aubameyang's home at around 1 a.m. local time after climbing into his garden, The Sporting News reports.

The couple were forced to open a safe, from which the thieves are claimed to have taken jewellery before fleeing the scene in a car.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal is still coming to terms with his recent brush with crime.

The defender became the latest footballer to be targeted by criminals in Spain.

Carvajal’s robbery comes on the back of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s home invasion. The former Barcelona forward and his family were targeted by a group of armed men.
