FootballEx-Liverpool Player Slams United for Paying ‘Ridiculous’ Money for Antony, Says £60M for Gordon ‘Makes Sense’
- Former Liverpool icon Dietmar Hamann has slammed Manchester United for paying top dollar for the services of unproved talent, Antony
- Antony could make his much anticipated debut for the Red Devils this Sunday when United host league leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford
- Man United have now spent more than £210m this summer, with Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro also joining Erik ten Hag's new-look squad
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has called out Manchester United for splashing a 'ridiculous' £86 million on Ajax Amsterdam winger Antony.
Antony became Man United's fifth signing of the summer and the second most expensive signing of the club - behind Paul Pogba - when he put pen to paper for a five-year deal with an option to extend for a year.
The 22-year-old Brazilian international's move to Old Trafford has raised eye brows about his price tag with many arguing United overpaid for his services.
Didi Hamann, who made 268 appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle United, Liverpool and Man City, agrees with the above assertion - arguing the Ajax winger could fail to live up to expectations at Old Trafford

"I do believe it's a ridiculous amount of money to pay for him," Hamann told The Games Cabin via SportBIBLE.
"I can see the £60m for Anthony Gordon making more sense than £84m for Antony.
"If you look at the players that have left Ajax in recent years, you have Matthijs de Ligt who failed at Juventus, Barcelona want to get rid of Frenkie de Jong and Donny van de Beek went to Manchester United and was offloaded to Everton and didn’t even play at Everton.
"Hakim Ziyech also has failed at Chelsea. All these players coming from Ajax have failed. I know Erik ten Hag has previously coached Antony, but that's something that sticks in the back of my mind."
