Tel’s goal-scoring record wasn’t the only record to fall during the game. He also became Bayern’s youngest player to make a debut for the club since they earned a promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965.
If Tel plays against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League next week, he will also become Bayern’s youngest player to make an appearance in the tournament.
Tel’s impressive performance has earned him high praise from coach Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern’s website reported.
"He's a very good dribbler, has great technique and is very good with the ball at his feet,” he said.
He added that even though Tel performed so admirably, he was an investment for the future and that it wasn’t easy for a 17-year-old to become a regular in the first team.
