FootballFrenkie De Jong Spotted at Airport Heading to London, Transfer Rumour Mill Goes Into Overdrive
- Frenkie de Jong has been at the centre of transfer speculation for much of the summer transfer window
- Chelsea and Manchester United were both in the running to sign Barcelona's midfielder Frenkie de Jong
- The rumour mill recently went into overdrive when Frenkie de Jong was spotted heading to London
Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona continues to be a hot topic.
The midfielder is wanted by both Manchester United and Chelsea and refuses to accept a salary cut at FC Barcelona.
With the transfer window closing in a few days, it’s believed that both English clubs would ramp up their efforts to sign the Dutch player.
The rumour mill believed that this was the case when de Jong was recently filmed jetting off to London. As reported by Daily Mail, the Dutch star was spotted arriving at the Barcelona airport with his girlfriend, leading many to speculate that he was on his way to finalise his move to England.

Caught Offside has now debunked those rumours and explained what de Jong is actually going to England for. The publication quoted a Barcelona journalist, Samuel Marsden, who explained that De Jong was travelling to London but that it wasn’t transfer-related.
Barcelona’s players have been given a few days off after their busy start to the season, and De Jong is heading to London for a holiday and to attend a wedding.
His Barcelona and Dutch international teammate, Memphis Depay, is also heading to England along with de Jong for the wedding.
Barcelona reject Bayern Munich loan move for embattled midfielder
Spanish side FC Barcelona are not interested in loaning out Frenkie de Jong to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The German champions targeted a possible loan move for the Dutchman in a similar move to the one that saw Philippe Coutinho join the Allianz Arena outfit a few years ago.
But Marca reports that Barca are determined to sell De Jong, having practically reached an agreement with Manchester United. However, the 25-year-old central midfielder failed to agree on terms with the Red Devils.
