Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool had no intention to humiliate Bournemouth during their Premier League meeting on Saturday, August 27.

The Reds were desperate to use the tie to get their campaign back on track, having failed to win any of their three matches of the opening season.

And Klopp's charges made the most of the encounter as they secured a huge 9-0 win over the Cherries to send a stern message to their Premier League rivals.

Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino both netted a brace to inspire the Merseysiders to victory, with Harvey Elliot, Trent-Alexander Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Fabio Carvalho also joining the goal fest.

Jurgen Klopp reacts to Liverpool's huge win over Bournemouth

However, Klopp has come out to claim that Liverpool had to intention to embarrass Bournemouth with their flawless performance.

While the German was quick to admit that he was keen to get a reaction from his charges, he has made it clear that Liverpool 'couldn't have respected Bournemouth more.'

"We wanted to show a reaction. Be ourselves. Getting to be the best version of ourselves. We play a specific way. We scored wonderful goals. The game settled and we kept scoring. It was about keep going," Klopp said via The Mirror.
"Not to humiliate Bournemouth, we couldn’t respect them more. It’s about putting the opponent under pressure," he added.
