It has now been revealed that former Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick played a huge part in Cristiano Ronaldo not joining Chelsea.
Ronaldo was set to switch sides from Manchester to London with the new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly apparently okaying the deal.

The striker was keen to leave Manchester United and join a club that offers Champions League football. His agent had offered him to Chelsea among other clubs.
Boehly however needed Thomas Tuchel to confirm whether Ronaldo would fit into his plans. Tuchel was in need of a striker given that Romelu Lukaku had been sent back to Inter Milan.
Daily Mail reports that the Chelsea board was excited at the prospect of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner leading their attack. But Tuchel sought the opinion of his longtime friend Rangnick who managed Ronaldo at Old Trafford for close to six months.
Rangnick advised Tuchel not to buy the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker. The Chelsea head boss then held talks with Boehly with the latter heeding the gaffer's advice.
Ronaldo is not adept at pressing opponents
Rangnick is on record criticizing Ronaldo's work rate and helping the team in pressing the opposition.
Tuchel went ahead to buy Raheem Sterling from Manchester City to improve his team's attack. The winger got off the mark for Chelsea with a brace in a hard-fought win against Leicester City on Saturday.

Ralf Rangnick had advised a Manchester United target not to join the club
Sports Brief has previously reported that Manchester United were dealt a blow in their efforts to sign a striker after an intervention from their former interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
Rangnick is understood to have advised striker Sasa Kalajdzic not to join Manchester United despite the club stepping up their efforts to secure him.
Kalajdzic, who plies his trade with German side Stuttgart, is one of the many options that current boss Erik ten Hag is looking at.
