  • Klopp has refuted the notion that Liverpool has easy fixtures in their Champions League group
  • The Reds have been placed in the same group as Ajax, Napoli and Scottish side Rangers for the 2022/23 Champions League
  • This will be the first time ever Liverpool comes up against Rangers in a competitive fixture

Jurgen Klopp beieves Liverpool will face a proper challenge in the Champions League this season, despite being heavy favorites to top their group.

Liverpool are in Group A alongside Italian giants Napoli, Rangers from Scotland an Dutch champions Ajax.

The Anfield side will come up against Rangers in an all-British clash for the first time ever as the two teams have never met in a competitive fixture.

'All of the clubs have quality, they all have pedigree and I would say they all have a chance. The good thing is that we do also, so it makes sense for us to look forward to the challenge and give it a try. Klopp said as quoted on Daily Mail.
'We did not ask for any favours and we have not been given any but this is not a competition where you can look for easy ways through because the standard is always unbelievably high.

Napoli will be a team Liverpool will take particular interest in as they have history of upsetting the 2019 Champions League winners.

In the 2019/2020 season, Liverpool were drawn in the same group as Napoli and failed to beat the Italian side on both legs, losing 2-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium before being held in a 1-1 draw at Anfeld.

'The only certainty right now is that all of the six games will be incredibly competitive and really intense. I'm excited about it. It is a proper football group and, like I said, a proper challenge.' Klopp added.
