In the second half of the Brazilian cup first leg, which Flamengo won 3-1, cameras panned towards Luiz from time to time, and the defender looked extremely beat.
His club Flamengo is now set to conduct further tests on the Brazilian to be able to tell just how serious his condition is.
After the game, Luiz spoke to TV Globo where he revealed he had a serious problem.
'Look, I have a little more serious problem. I'm going to do some tests. Then I'll tell you what it is.” He said.
The game against Sao Paolo was his fourth game in August, and he has been looking quite good at the heart of Flamengo’s defence.
In his last game before the Brazilian Cup semi-final, Luiz played the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Palmerias.
Flamengo currently lies third in the Brazilain Serie A, and trail league leaders Palmeiras by nine points.
