FootballArsenal: A Look at Gunners' Next Six Fixtures as Mikel Arteta Set to Maintain Top Spot
- Arsenal’s season has gotten off to the perfect start with Mikel Arteta’s side clinching three victories
- The Gunners are the only side with a 100% record after Manchester City drew against Newcastle on Sunday
- Their next five fixtures strongly suggest the North London side could maintain their place at the top of the league
Arsenal look set to still be top of the table at the end of September, if their fixture schedule is anything to go by.
Mikel Arteta could not have hoped for a better start to the 2022/23 season, as he has seen his side secure three victories on the bounce against Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bournemouth.
This is just a continuation of Arsenal’s preseason form as they have now won nine games in a row and are looking very settled with another gruelling campaign on the horizon.
One could argue Arsenal have had fairly ‘easy’ fixtures at the start of the season, as they have not faced any of the traditional ‘Big Six’ yet, unlike their London counterparts Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham and Brentford.
Next up for Mikel Arteta’s side is the newly promoted Fulham, who, despite the fact that they have proven to be unpredictable opponents, are still underdogs for the clash. The fixture takes place on August 27.
After that, Arsenal will host Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa at the Emirates on August 31. Being at home, the Gunners are expected to dominate and perhaps take all three points.

Manchester United then come next for Mikel Arteta’s side in what will be their first real test of the campaign on September 4. Erik Ten Hag’s side recently sunk Liverpool in a fierce derby and the win will certainly have had a confidence boost for the Red Devils.

FootballSeven days later, the Gunners come up against Everton on September 11 and hopefully they will replicate the 5-1 demolition that took place last season.
On September 18, Arsenal will face Brentford, another side that will surely be considered as underdogs for that fixture.
The second genuine test for Arsenal will be the North London derby against Tottenham on October 1.
