Chelsea are confident they can land former Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Blues are in dire need of an established striker, having let go of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, who have since retuned to their former clubs Inter Milan and RB Leipzig respectively.
In addition, Thomas Tuchel’s side is also upping their pursuit of Anthony Gordon from Everton, while a third bid is being prepared for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea’s season so far
Chelsea began their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Everton, before coming up with a draw against Tottenham in an entertaining London derby.

But their latest 3-0 defeat at the hands of Leeds United highlighted an underlying issue – that the club might need to spend some more before the September 1 summer deadline.
Notably, all three of their opening games have been played without an out and out striker, with Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and new signing Raheem Sterling tasked with providing firepower upfront.
A deal for Aubameyang, who joined Barcelona in January 2022, is expected to be in the region of £20m and it would see the Gabon international reunite with his former boss Tuchel.
Under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang netted 79 goals in just 95 games, and the German gaffer knows all about his qualities as a striker.
Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon is also keen on moving to Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea have had four approaches turned down by Everton.
