Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has stated that he is trying to live by the standards of former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha.
Okocha is the maternal uncle to the current Everton midfielder, who has often credited the superstar with a big role in his football career.
Pulse Sports reports that Iwobi has disclosed that Okocha Jay Jay is more involved in his life away from football, especially as he grows older.
According to former Arsenal star Iwobi, many expect him to match the heights of his uncle, who remains a game legend.

The midfielder also stated that Jay Jay also wants him to do great exploits, but the high standard he had set is such a huge one.
Iwobi said:
“When I was younger, he used to give me advice about football. But he only speaks to me [now] about off the pitch, just making sure I handle myself well. On the pitch he just says 'enjoy it' really, the same thing he was doing.
“He wants me to do the same. He was a great player. I'm trying to live up to his standards. It's a high standard to push up to but he's a great role model for me.”

Meanwhile, Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o did not find it funny that Super Eagles legend Jay Jay Okocha did not get the deserved recognition during his playing days.
