Instead, the Bundesliga champions have been absolutely rampant in Germany's top flight.

Bayern have played four games since Lewandowski's departure, with three of those coming in the Bundesliga and one in the DFL SuperCup. In those four games, they have scored 20 times in those four games and only conceded four goals.

They beat RB Leipzig 5-3 in the DFL SuperCup before opening their Bundesliga account with a 6-1 mauling of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayern then followed that up with a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg before running riot against VfL Bochum. The champions won the match 7-0, with new singing Sadio Mané grabbing a brace.

Mané has hit the ground running at the club, as has Matthijs de Ligt. Other Bayern Munich stars like Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller also seemed to have been rejuvenated and ready to prove that they aren't defined by Lewandowski's departure.
