Wayne Rooney has made his prediction on who between Manchester United and Liverpool will win when the Premier League heavyweights face off on Monday night, August 22, at Old Trafford.

United kicked off the season with a 2-1 humbling defeat against Brighton before they followed up the result with a 4-0 humiliation away at Brentford.
The two losses left them sitting bottom of the standings until West Ham's 2-0 defeat against Brighton at London Stadium.

Liverpool have not been in good shape either, picking a paltry two points from two of their opening matches.

And owing to the poor run of form the two teams have endured, Rooney contends United have a chance of picking a point against The Reds.
However, the Premier League icon warned that the Red Devils risk getting hammered by Jurgen Klopp's charges should they play the same way they did against Brentford.
"Play like they did against Brentford, and United will suffer an even worse result than their 5-0 defeat by Liverpool last season," Rooney opined in his Times column.
