- Cesc Fabregas once scored a penalty for Arsenal against FC Barcelona despite playing with a fractured leg
Football players often are accused of being too soft and going down easily for every bit of contact.
Not all players have developed that reputation, though.
SC Freiburg’s Maximilian Eggestein proved that he’s a cut above the rest during his side’s victory over Vfb Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
In the 87th minute of the game, Eggestein suffered a freak injury which left him with a fractured forearm. The injury occurred when the ball deflected off Matthias Ginter and hit Eggestein’s arm at high speed, Bulinews confirmed.

At that stage of the game, Freiburg had used up all of their substitutes, and Eggestein had to see out the rest of the game with a heavily taped-up forearm. Freiburg would hang on to their one-goal advantage and go on to win the game.
The player will undergo x-rays, and it is unclear how long he will be out of action.
Eggestein is by no means the only player to continue playing despite being injured.
In 2012, Cesc Fabregas fractured his leg while playing for Arsenal against Barcelona. The Spaniard continued to play and still managed to score a penalty for the English outfit. He explained that he only realised that he was injured after he had scored the goal.
