AC Milan's hopes of making it two wins in two in the new Serie A season were dented when they travelled to the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday to face Atalanta.

Milan secured a 4-2 comfortable win in their opening match of the season against Udinese at San Siro, and were looking to build on the momentum when they took their trip to Atalanta.

Atalanta, meanwhile, equally came into the match in fine shape, having kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 win at Sampdoria last weekend.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini decided to make two changes in his team that beat Sampdoria, with Demiral returning in defence to replace youngster Okoli as Malinovskyi started up front instead of Muriel.

Despite the tactical tweak on both teams, there was nothing to separate them after 90 minutes of action as they shared they spoils.

AC Milan had the best chance to break the deadlock after an evenly-balanced balanced 24 minutes, only for Messias fire his finish wide after he was set up by Hernandez.

The reigning champions were eventually punished at the hour-mark as an unmarked Malinovskyi fired a shot past Maignan via a deflection to make it 1-0.

The visistors had to wait until the 68th minute to restore parity through Ismael Bennacer, who curled a superb shot into the far bottom corner to make it 1-1.

Neither side could find the back of the net for the remainder of the match as the two teams shared the spoils.
