Supporters of Arsenal were on cloud nine as the north London outfit cruised to a comfortable victory over newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, August 20.

A first-half brace from skipper Martin Odegaard and a wonderful strike from centre-half William Saliba handed Mikel Arteta's charges all three points - their third successive win of the season.

But the key highlight of the fixture was when the away section at the Vitality Stadium decided to lift the roof of the stadium with a well-rehearsed song for their French defender Saliba.

Following his masterclass performance on his first outing this season, the 21-year-old Frenchman had a dent in his game when he scored an own goal in Arsenal's triumph over Leicester City last week.

He will quickly erase his error against the Foxes with yet another defensive masterclass before breaking his goal-scoring duck for the Gunners with a well-taken goal to hand Arsenal a 3-0 win against the Cherries.

His goal gave the travelling supporters impetus to serenade the over 11,000-capacity stadium with a chant for their new hero - Saliba.

Saliba would hope to continue his purple patch form as the season unfolds.

The comprehensive win over the Cherries sends Arsenal temporarily to the summit of the league log with three wins in their opening three matches - a sharp contrast to their start to last season where the Gunners lost their opening three games.

Saliba shines as Arsenal move to the top of the Premier League table with emphatic win

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Arsenal stormed to the top of the Premier League as newly-appointed captain Martin Odegaard struck twice inside 11 minutes in a comprehensive 3-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday.

William Saliba's sweet strike in the second half gave the scoreline a fair reflection of the Gunners' dominance as Mikel Arteta's men continued their perfect start to the season after three games.

Three games into last season, Arsenal were without a single point and off to their worst start in 67 years.
